I’m home and I’ve been back in the USA for two weeks now though spreading my time between Seattle, Charlotte and Sunset Beach.
I’ve been trying to figure out what to share as I let all of my followers know that I’m home and I am a little stumped. And I’ll confess I haven’t really done a good job of slowing down since being home. Site-seeing and soaking up the last few moments with squad-mates filled my time in Seattle. Time at home was filled with rest (those red-eye flights are no joke y’all), unpacking, cleaning, and setting up a space of my own as I transition into living with my parents. A situation I haven’t been in since I was 19. I caught up with some family and friends before packing up to leave for the beach for the July 4th holiday. And now I’m here, finally slowing down and thinking through what I want to share with the people who have traveled along with me over the last 11 months.
One blog post won’t due it justice. A number of blog posts probably won’t do it justice and therefore I look forward to catch up with individuals and groups in the coming months. But for now, here’s what you might want to know.
Where I’ll be: Primarily in the Long Creek area of Charlotte for the foreseeable future. I will be in Knoxville, TN for about a week at the end of July and then in Gainesville, GA reconnecting with squad-mates and mentors for what the World Race calls Project Searchlight. It’s kind of like a final, final debrief about a month after we get home to provide helpful insight and networking opportunities for life after the race whether that’s going back on the international mission field or the business world. Think of it as the opposite and only slightly fancier version of training camp.
When can I see you: For those of you in Knoxville and Charlotte, I’m slowly making the rounds in the form of coffee dates, doggy hang-outs and other outings. My schedule when I’m in town right now is pretty flexible so let me know when you’re free I’d love to hear what life’s been like while I’ve been away.
What will I be doing: This honestly deserves a blog all of it’s own, because my thoughts are extensive, but for now this is what I have. I’ll definitely be spending the month of July connecting with community, setting up life (I’m in need of a car and some other “real life” things), and working on some options for the future. Beyond July I’ve got a lot of things that I’m looking into, but the honest answer is “I don’t know what’s next.” And for the first time in my life, that’s an answer I’m okay with. I’m hopeful and excited for what the next season brings and I hope you’ll continue to walk through it with me. I currently plan to keep blogging – I promise with more consistency than the last month. You can continue to follow my story here until I develop a more permanent site.
I hope you had a fantastic Fourth of July. That’s all for now…
With Love,
Sara
