We are finally in Ind*a.  I’ve been anxiously awaiting being here since I signed up for the race and I’m so excited to be here.  We have been here a little over a week and so far it has been great.

We are living with an incredible family in the greater Hyderabad area.  They are truly an inspiration on how living a life for God should look, I really can’t say enough about them. We spend most evenings visiting with families in the area, spending time with them, and encouraging them.

So far it has been amazing here.  It’s hot, but coolish in the evenings.  The life, color, sparkle and glitter is intoxicating.  The warm air is filled with the smell of spices and life.  We live in a urban area, but it’s very clean and everyone we’ve met so far is very friendly.

We did get to witness the Holi festival activities going on around us which was very exciting. We are in South India where it’s not quite as big of a deal, but we saw enough.  It also happened to be Niki’s birthday so for a little fun we got our own color and had a scavenger hunt and a little color war in the parking lot.

The indian hospitality is some of the most loving we have witnessed.  Which translates to, we eat soooo much food.  We have to figure out how to creatively and politely say no thank you a lot, and even then, we’ll probably still get another spoonful put on our plates. It is delicious though, even if we have to suffer through our lips being on fire.  We got to try the famous Hydrabadi Biryani for the first time last night and I loved it.

Some other things I’m looking forward to see and do this month:

-Saree shopping, all the women here look like royalty so our team is going to experience the culture and see what it’s like.  Plus, ALL the pretty fabrics 😀

-The Charminar

-more indian food

-seeing my parents, they’re coming! Pray for that travel and time

-this great museum that used to be a palace

-meeting more people to love and learn from
