Namaste from Nepal! The view here in Nepal is breathtaking! (Of course so is the pollution in the air along with the dust that flies everywhere) But seriously, not a moment passes by where I am not continuously amazed at the beautiful scenery! Everywhere you go, you encounter some sort of view of the mountains. There are even special times through the day where mountain beyond mountains will appear and disappear through the horizon. I wake up every morning with a greatful heart and am surprised each day that I am actually here!
Because Nepal is such a beautiful and adventurous place, so many people from all over the world travel here in search of new adventures. My team and I have had the opportunity to meet many of them and hear their stories at while living among them in a hostile during debrief. Even though every single one of them have a different story, there is one thing they all have in common: Each and every traveler is in search for something. Most of them believe there is more to life than the every day to do list, and even though they are right about that, they are searching for live in adventure. They are searching for thrill and the exileration of near death experience. But the problem with this, is that they will never be satisfied, they will continue to search and hunger for the adventure. But the only fulfillment that could ever bring them joy is Christ Jesus. So even though debrief was a week of rest, we still got to witness to than and lead with a life of love.
When we finally got to our ministry site, we traveled 8 hours away for outreach in a village. We did home fellowship, and attended a church service. We had the opportunity to speak and pray with the people. They had such a passion and hunger for God that the Spirit just fell. Some were healed, some were saved, and some where filled with the Holy Spirit! The fire of God fell from heaven every single day and so many of them were touched. During our outreach, the city was having a light festival. The houses were decorated with Christmas lights and the halls and doorways had candles all in them. It was definitely a fire hazard!
When we got back from outreach, we wanted to walk around and pray for the village. We stopped and prayed for a man at the shop, and then we decided to help with manual labor. A few of us took a shovel, and a butcher knife and cut back sticker bushes. We were covered from head to toe. And the next day we went to the banquet house to feed the homeless, and pray for the sick. We met a sweet old man who was the happiest and cutest man alive. We sat and talked with him for a long time even though neither of us could understand each other. One man came in and could barely stand. He was sweating real bad and said he hurt all over. He passed out in a chair, so people gathered around to pray, but at the end of the meal he got up and washed his face. Suddenly he started singing with the music a dance circle was started, and he got down and whipped out some hip hop moves! It took me a minute, but as soon as I realized this was the same man, I was so amazed!!
God is doing so many things here! The last few days I have been so full of joy and amazement. Please continue to pray for the people of Nepal, and that God will strike a flame of revival in the villages. Dhanyabhad! (Thank You!)
