… I am going on The World Race!!

A few years ago I went on a mission trip to El Salvador with my youth group. This was not a trip that I felt like I was led to go on, nor was it one that I prayed much about before choosing to go. All I knew then was that my friends were going, and so was I!

When I arrived in El Salvador, I remember looking out the window of the bus and seeing nothing but poverty stricken land. Children were walking around (some poorly dressed, some no clothing at all) with no supervision. My heart immediately broke for each of them. Everyone there was so humble.. they had nothing but would have given you everything just for a moment of your time. I may not have known the reason for my attendance on this trip when I got there, but I knew what God’s plan for me was before I left.

It was that week that God made it crystal clear to me that he wanted me in foreign missions. Of course, at this point in my life; I was getting ready to graduate high school, start college, and live out the all the plans that I had made.

Can you all guess what I chose to do?

That’s right… I ignored him!! How could I mess up all my plans on something I wasn’t even sure about? I went on my with my life which led me away from the Lord. So for the last few years I have been going to college pursuing a Bachelors degree in Science and Nursing, but ultimately looking into medical school. I went to college right out of high school to earn my EMT- Basic. I earned my certification in December of 2009 and have been working with Palestine Regional EMS since April of 2010.

A few months ago I really got back into church, and it just seemed like God picked me up exactly where I left off… wondering why he would choose me out of everyone to go to other countries to spread the word that I don’t even do a good job of spreading here. Never the less, I have decided to answer his calling on my life.

January 12, 2012 I will be going out into 11 countries for 11 months with nothing but my backpack, sleeping bag, tent, and my faith in Christ. I am not sure what to think, nor what to expect on this trip. All I know this time is that this is where I am suppose to be, and God is going to handle the rest. Please keep me and my team in your prayers as we embark on this crazy journey in Christ and also as we each try to raise the money to make the trip!! God Bless Everyone!!
