My first team Themelios partnered with Rescue Pink month 1 of our Race in India. My first highlight video of the World Race is dedicated to this country and the girls and women of Rescue Pink at M-Center, and to our sweet host Sangeetha, who is the director of M-Center, and her beautiful and kind family (who you will see in this video).
I loved making this video especially now that I’m home from a whirlwind of a year. I am nostalgic and grateful for the people and places that the World Race brought me to.
Seeing how it is Giving Tuesday, I wanted to tell you that they are raising $20,000 for a bunch of different projects.
This is from Rescue Pink’s Facebook page:
“First, we want to put two computers at each of our 4 centers to start teaching the after school girls computer skills – along with word, excel and other things. (one computer + desk + chair would run around $550-600 each).
We also want to hire an English as a Second Language Coordinator so we can strategically make sure our girls are learning proper English. (We are hoping to find a trained volunteer for this – but would like to raise for their airfare). Both these sets of skills (English and computer) will allow the girls huge opportunities to get into higher education and good jobs to provide for themselves and their families.
During the mornings when our girls are at school we plan on teaching English and computer skills to the communities for a fee in order to help make our centers more self-sustainable, so both these things have a dual role in helping Rescue Pink.
Secondly, we want to start teaching the girls kitchen gardening in order to give them skills and also sell in the market for sustainability. (We are currently researching and working on our budget for this).
Third, we want to begin raising for loans for our newest center, R-center, for our new round of enterpreneurs. We hope to enroll 30 women at $150 each (so $4,500 total).
Last, for Christmas we want to give the girls at K Center and R Center new dresses (the girls at O Center and M Center got theirs this week). The dresses are $6 per child (We need about $378 total to cover the cost).
With all that, we are shooting for a Giving Tuesday goal of $20,000 to cover the costs of these. You can give on Facebook (go to the Rescue Pink page and scroll to find the post) – they are dropping the fees for the day.
Or you can click donate at rescuepink.org, or give via paypal at www.paypal.me/rescuepink.
For every person who gives $150 or more, you will receive a Christmas ornament hand made by some of Rescue Pink’s own women entrepreneurs as a thank you!”
