Smack
in the middle of an 85+ hour work week I found myself in the midst of an orgy
of Red Bull, Dubstep, and the Holy Spirit. One of these items is new to me (I am a little nervous
about how easy it was for me to consume cans of sugar-free Red Bull), one makes
it impossible for me to stay still and immediately makes everything okay (don’t
call me blasphemous for meaning Dubstep here), and one is the reason I am about
to replicate this week for the entire month of June and most of July. *coughHolySpiritcough*
This
past week was our Training Camp for the 45 Adventures Youth
staff who will be serving the eleven mission sites we have been working to set
up across the U.S. and Caribbean since August. Our eleven Project Leaders are
all alum of the World Race, so they know a thing or two about short-term missions, and the rest of our
support staff for these ministry sites are a dynamic, talented group of young
adults from across the U.S. Sometimes I think I have a grasp on unconditional
love. Then God introduces a new opportunity for me to realize what I knew
before was child’s play compared to what He wants to show me next. I am so.
stinking. proud. and excited to send this flock out and watch the Kingdom that
will be brought to eleven different cities through their hard work and
dedication in serving over 2600 teenagers this summer.
I
will be traveling between Jamaica, Guatemala and Philadelphia the majority of
the summer to support the Project Leaders in charge of each site, and their staff teams running projects in these areas.
KINGSTON, JAMAICA
Greg reminds me of a mix between Jason Mraz and Jesus. He completed his World Race this past September, and just came off the mission field a week and a half ago from
squad leading another World Race crew. His eyes exude the peace of Christ, his passion in worship is beautiful, and the amount with which he humors my inappropriateness is sure to promise stories for future telling.
XENACOJ, GUATEMALA
Carly is a World Racer who has been serving AY the past several months by mobilizing many of the youth groups that will be
attending our trips this summer. Her grace and humility are gifts I look forward to learning more about as I lead her the next few months.
PHILADELPHIA
Kayla is a dear friend and fellow P Squad alum who hails from Colorado.
This time a year ago we were packing up the last
eleven months of our
lives lived across the globe and traveling back to the States together. I
praise God for the opportunity to serve with her again a year later.
Please keep these locations and leaders in your prayers. They are about to make an incredible impact and I am fully confident in the testimonies they will bring at the end of summer.
I would also love your prayers for the whole Adventures Youth family as we all will be spread across the country and neighboring islands the next few months.
Albeit dramatic, it is probably safe to say I would not think twice about somersaulting into the bowels of hell after these people if the occasion were ever necessary.
Jimmy, thank you for asking the tough questions and making me find the answers.
Bri, Josh and Baby Rene, you are such lights to this world. Thank you for your constant joy.
Adam, even when we’re not looking for it, adventure has a tendency to find us. Thank you for leading me well into and out of situations where God had to show up.
Toni-Lyn, you are a rock. Thank you for your peace, understanding and incredible listening abilities.
Cody, I am only 20% sorry I am giving you bunny ears in this picture. I have rarely left a conversation with you without fresh new revelation about the world.
Your contributions and prayers are not only deeply appreciated, but necessary. Please click
here if you would like to make a 100% tax-deductible donation to support the work I will be involved in this summer.
I look forward to updating you from the field! Blessings, S.
