Life is moving right along on this 11 month journey. Launch week was spent at a Catholic compound in Santo Domingo. This was a time of getting to know ourselves as leaders, followers and bonding as a massive family of 74. We certainly were not in the ´tourist section´ of town, but this is one of my favorite parts of serving in ministry around the world – getting the opportunity to see what life really looks like. We were blessed with an amazing day off at the beach before our squad split and departed for our homes for the next month.

Four teams have crossed the border and are beginning their first month of ministry in Haiti, and 7 teams have moved on to San Juan in the Dominican Republic. My team is remaining in the DR for July and our ministry begins this week! There are 46 of us total in the DR this month, and we are truly learning what the phrase ´living in community means¨. We all share a house – a few bedrooms, a kitchen, bathrooms, etc. It will be a challenge for individual teams to get their bonding time, and for ourselves as individuals to get our alone time with God. We all know this is the very beginning of what the next 11 months will look like for us, often in much more complex and uncomfortable surrondings. It seems the harder it gets, the easier it is to see God.

 
Our route has already had some shifts due to the political climate in the Middle East. At this point we will not be going to Turkey or Romania, but somewhere in Europe, and our route ends in Asia. This of course could completely change, but our squad is pumped and ready for where God will take us.
