i began this last night (Kenya time). So. . . back home it’s early morning and already the afternoon here. . . which means that my birthday actually seems longer. Hooray!
It’s
11:26 p.m. local time as I type this; tonight is my last night as a member of
the quarter-century club. Some of my
squadmates showed me more of their silly side by drawing on my face, kick
starting the festivities. I got a free
haircut that makes me look 10 years younger.
I
thought, why not. New team, new
hair. Almost unrecognizable, even. Do any of you change your hairstyle when
you’re going through some kind of transition in life, or is that just me?
So far
the change has been good – teamwise, I mean; the jury’s still out regarding my
hair.
May I
introduce you to some additional brothers and sisters of mine, the members of
team Lunchbox?
–
Brandon: our Hollywood Jesus
–
Lindsay: our Hollywood leader
–
Tangi: our southern sweetheart
–
Christi: our strength and steadiness
–
Dan: our child-like heart of faith
–
Brenda: our safe harbor
We carry
the bread of life, hence the name. Plus,
it’s just fun to say.
As I
begin a new season of the Race with awesome brothers and sisters; I’ve been
remembering and grieving the past season of the Race with Dunamis. I miss them, but I know we can only grow so
much and now we are stepping up to the next level.
Already I’m
so proud of them and so happy for them, for what God has in store for them.
Here’s a
slideshow set to a song that reminds us of what Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes,
that He makes all things beautiful in His time and that He has set eternity in
our hearts. In this team change, and any
change we, who are finite and stuck in time, have faced in the past and will
face, let us remember that though this chapter is concluded the story is far
from over. Who knows how God, the author
and perfecter of our faith, will develop our characters?
I’m
thankful that I got to celebrate this birthday with two families.
Enjoy!
