i never did get around to publishing this until today. i first wrote this august 28. it never did get finished. but in the spirit of “shipping”, here it is, my thoughts before i got to ireland.
[i started writing sometime before 2 a.m. EST]
every night since sunday – except for tuesday, ’cause we had john and joyce kim from ywam (kona) with us and tuesday nights in general are sacred to me – i’d been packing/moving/cleaning. thanks to five friends, 97% of my stuff got moved into my new. . . residence? home? both those words sound too permanent given the transient turn my life seems to be taking.
anyway, i am obliged to the hospitality of my favorite newlyweds, who are essentially adopting me into their home as the younger sister they’ve never had. i’ve still got some junk in the trunk; most of my belongings remain in boxes/bags.
i googled the weather in dublin, and packed accordingly. so i think. am thinking of wearing my rainboots but that will be a pain to take off during the security checkpoint at the airport.
this week also happened to be my last at the law firm. and in 6.5 hours, i get on a jetblue plane to jfk from dulles; 12 hours after said plane arrives in my hometown – ahem, nyc – i will board aer lingus flight EI 108 to dublin.
during those 12 hours, i’ll either go home, or make rob & jeff come out to queens to hang out with meeee. haha, who am i kidding. i have half a day, i’ll do both.
this has been quite a week of juggling transitions. one is hard enough. and i don’t even juggle with tangible things.
i’m going to the awakening for the first time – both as an alumna and staff – and i’m not gonna lie. even with all the emails exchanged and project planning on action method (actionmethod.com – it’s super nifty, i totally used it to organize the moving process and it was so fulfilling to be able to click on that box and watch that action step disappear into completion), i still have no idea what i’m doing.
i did purchase a digital voice recorder. that makes me feel a bit more legit, especially for my up-close-and-personal interviews with some racers. but aside from that. . . i just dunno what kinda craic awaits on the emerald isle.
[this part written at 2:40 pm]
i arrived on time thanks to my hosts. i do enjoy flying jetblue; we had no instigating passengers or on-edge attendants.
took the airtrain still trying to figure out the best way to get home in little neck. remembered that the q30 bus picks up near the airtrain station in jamaica. i get on the bus and sit and realize my phone is gone.
boo.
