world racers take various assessments prior to being sent off. in one of these reports, i apparently favor predictability (the milkman, the paperboy, and evening tv – somebody guess that sitcom theme song, please), which i found unusual because i fancy myself to be someone who’s open to trying new things, has eclectic taste in all kinds of things, and is rather indecisive.
well, i’ve hit another period of flux lately, and it’s been a breeding ground of uncertainty. i’m about to change jobs, which most likely will result in a pay-cut; i’m turning 25; and, not-so-small group has started again. the rubber’s about to meet more road, and all of a sudden i just wanna stay in the driveway.
so the following song comes to mind; i share it because a sister of mine is going through a lot more, and because perhaps you, whoever you are reading this rightnow, need a way to voice this neediness along with me:
“faith to be strong” by andrew peterson:
as we stagger and stumble to walk where You lead
give us faith to be strong
give us faith to be strong
give us strength to be faithful
this life is not long, but it’s hard
give us grace to go on
make us willing and able
Lord, give us faith to be strong
(give us peace when we’re torn
give us faith, faith to be strong)
give us peace when we’re torn / mend us up when we break / this flesh can be wounded and shaking
when there’s much too much trouble for one heart to take
give us peace when we’re torn
give us hearts to find hope / Father, we cannot see how the sorrow we feel can bring freedom
and as hard as we try, Lord, it’s hard to believe
so, give us hearts to find hope
