this is one of those seemingly random yet inspired posts, again.  i’d call it stream of consciousness but i edit as i write so it’s more like a swirl of consciousness.  the impetus – yes, the youtube.
first, steve and now, sean have introduced me to spoken word artists like ezekiel and taylor, respectively.
by the way, just let me point out:
  • is it a stretch, that my name and their names begin with s and it would seem we share a penchant for spoken word/poetry? probably. and by probably, i mean certainly. and perhaps so much of a stretch that it isn’t a stretch but a full-on split. why yes, i did use the socratic method on myself; and while i’m out here on this linguistic limb, i’ll make up a word and call it “autosocratizing”.
  • it is a small world race. i remember back in the day reading sean’s blog (oh don’t worry, his was not the only one) which scared yet compelled me into this beast of a “missions trip” and my “fears” were confirmed when sean trained my squad.  steve ends up finding out about the race through me.  and guess who’s training steve’s squad? that’s right: the champ himself.
anyway. would it be fair to call these guys are prophetic poets or poetic prophets?
please watch this video first, ’cause what i have to say only echoes mr. mali, this piece is called, “miracle worker” (if you must skim through, start a few seconds before the 2:00 mark):

and now to the main objective of this post:
to simply thank you – our teachers, who we in this ever-growing circle refer to as “coaches” – for your hard work.  the world is our classroom and your life and your experience are the curriculum.
i can remember now, when talking to schoolmates about who are teachers were. and during my term at the world race school, my teachers were mr. & mrs. black and mr. & mrs. hindes. before mr. & mrs. paschall had classes of their own, they student-taught us. if students could grade teachers, mine get A+.
to all the teachers, including the ones who weren’t my teachers – mr. & mrs. barnes, mr. & mrs. pitt, mr. & mrs. day, mr. & mrs. sipling, mr. & mrs. mcginnis, mr. & mrs. frederickz, mr. & mrs. mccormick, [oh for the love of God if i’ve forgotten more, please lemme know] – gold stars for you, too.
