There I was face down in an unfamiliar sanctuary surrounded by the most familiar faces. My family was reunited again. Well, some of them. Project Search Light was finally here and never was I more thrilled to be in Gainesville, Georgia. I longed for this day for the full three weeks I was home. I missed the true, raw friendships I had formed and the accountability that sometimes was less than desired at the time. I craved this new community that I had been forced to live in. Most of all, I missed the intimacy I had found with my Father in Heaven.
As I laid there, my face planted in the carpet, I prayed. I prayed hard. I begged. I wanted to hear from God. I wanted to hear from the one who brought me through such healing over the last year. I wanted to hear from the one who promised to never leave me. I wanted to hear from the one who led me to the World Race. I wanted to hear from the one who told me my dreams weren’t big enough. “Dream bigger, challenge me” he would say. Most of all, I wanted to hear from the one who risked everything for me.
I did. For the first time in a month, I heard.
I looked out over a field full of beautiful flowers. Out in the field were a man and a woman dancing. The man was handsome. He had a strength about him that was unusual. A strength that said no one will harm you because I will protect you. The woman’s face couldn’t be seen but her long, brown hair flowed so perfectly down her back. She wore a beautiful white sundress that swayed in the breeze as they moved together.
As they danced, she had a tendency to try and lead. He smiled and said, “relax…I have this.” He told her she was beautiful and she looked to the ground. “Beloved, do you know your worth? You see the beauty I see in you, right?” He lifted her chin and a familiar face looked up. One that I see in the mirror every day. He grabbed her hand and said, “run with me.” They ran through the field of flowers and moved closer to a cliff. He didn’t slow down but ran faster. He said, “I want you to feel weightless. I want you to be free. I want you to trust me.” It was time to jump. Although afraid, she decided to follow him. She embraced the free-fall. She stretched out her arms and with a smile said, “I AM FREE.”
At that moment, still lying face down in the middle of the sanctuary floor, I realized…I met Jesus. That’s right where I belong.
Your presence is all I’m longing for here in the secret place
Your nearness is all I’m waiting for here in the quiet place
Here in the secret place
My soul waits for you alone
Just like the watchmen wait for dawn
Here I’ve finally found the place
Where we’ll meet, Lord, face to face
I’ve finally found where I belong
I’ve finally found where I belong, in your presence
I’ve finally found where I belong, Lord
To be with you, to be with you
I am my Beloved’s and He is mine
So come into your garden and take delight in me
Take delight in me
Delight in me, delight in me
Delight in me, delight in me
Here in Your presence, God, I find my rest
Here in Your presence, God
