In July, my family and I went to Ocean City like we do every year. On our last day there, it was a pretty ugly day. It was raining, windy, definitely not a beach day. However, I’m at the beach to go to the beach. So even on the ugliest day, I still visited. The waves were amazing that day. My favorite time to go over to the beach is when there is high tide because the waves are usually bigger, so just looking at the size of the waves, it amazes me. Looking at the ocean, it was just one color, a dark grey-blue. When I was standing there it hit me, in a little over a month I will be in the Dominican Republic. A whole different environment, a whole different beach. Fast forward to last Monday when we went to the beach here in the DR. The sand was white, the water was a clear blue color, it was beautiful. We took a boat to a small island where we got to snorkel. If you looked out into the ocean you would notice the different coloration of the ocean. The further you looked, the darker the water. However, other than the color of the water, what is the difference between Ocean City, Maryland and Paradise Island, Dominican Republic? They are both part of the Atlantic Ocean, but what makes it different?

No one will ever understand the ocean. No one will ever know how deep the ocean really is, even though scientists think they know. No one will ever know all of the various types of fish that live in the ocean. 95% of the ocean has yet to be explored.

It doesn’t matter where you are, God is the same wherever you go. Even though the ocean looks completely different in different areas of the Atlantic, it is still the ocean.

God is like the ocean. No one will fully understand God.

The ocean; it’s big and it’s vast and since it is that big, it does not make us not want to further our knowledge about it. Just like the ocean, because of how big and vast and powerful God is, it should not make us not want to explore Him. No one will ever understand how big God is and that is perfectly okay! What you can understand is, since people are still wanting to know how big the ocean is, you should do the same about God. Man will never over come the ocean nor God, exploration is part of the journey and wanting to know more is very important!
