So training camp is a whopping 7 days away. How exciting!! It’s exciting but intense, from what I hear. Also I’m still fundraising for my second goal to reach $10,000 due in July. I just reached the first milestone of $5,000! Thank you so much to the people who gave. I’ve had people give $35 bucks and others that have given $350. Also people who have helped by giving as much as they’ve had in their wallets and a wonderful family who I love dearly who have given, faithfully, every month. How amazing are these sweet people?! Also another way I’ve been coming up with the money is I’ve been working for it. I’ve been doing odd jobs, selling things, and whatever I can. I believe God has called me to this mission trip for a reason. Even though it sounds fun and glamorous to be traveling to 11 different countries it’s not as glamorous as it seems. We will be where God needs us to be. We will be helping the “forgotten” people, the people who have been cast away, people who have had little to no exposure to Christ, people who have suffered in ways we couldn’t imagine because of the privilege we have, and much more. This isn’t a trip about me going to see the world but a trip of really getting to see a little of what Jesus did way back when. The sacrifices he made, the joy he felt and the pain he felt as well. This trip will nowhere close to being easy. It will be hard, it will be trying , and at times it will be completely heartbreaking. I’m not going on this trip to see the world but to see the world through the eyes of Jesus, and through the eyes of his disciples. We all have heard the song Hosana by Hillsong United, right? The bridge goes “heal my heart and make it clean. Open up my eyes to the things unseen show me how to love like you have loved me. Break my heart for what breaks yours. Everything I am for your kingdom’s cause. As I walk from earth into eternity” The thing I love about the world race is it pulls the lyrics right out of this song and has us live those lyrics. How God knew this journey was what a young believer like myself needed to go through is beyond me. How spectacular is this wonderful wonderful God we serve?! He knew what He was doing when He brought this race to me. I haven’t even left yet and it’s already started to change me for the better.
I’ve decided to roll out a small fundraiser called Adopt a country. The concept is I’ll give you a jar with one of the countries I’ll be going to with little excerpts about the country you’ve adopted. All you have to do is fill it up with loose change or dollars then give it back to me. Sounds easy enough, right?? If you’d like to partake in this fundraise, just let me know! Also if you just want to donate just click that button that says donate and type in the information and you’re all set. Thank you to those who have given already and thank you in advance for any donations you’d like to make.
