Down on their Knees!
Part of our ministry has been going door to door and evangelizing. This has been quite a struggle for me. I just have never been in a situation where I’ve done this, which is sad, but true. It has been such a learning experience for me and god is teaching me so much. My eyes and heart have been opened to so many things. Last week we went out 3 mornings and just went to door to door. We would be welcomed in and then introduce ourselves. We would try to find out if the new the Lord or not then proceed from there either encouraging them or introducing them to God. If they were not saved we would ask if they would like to pray the prayer of confession, some would say no and just ask for prayer in general and then some would be ready to get down on their knees. No matter what the situation we could always see God moving in those homes and just being able to pray for those people wherever the were at was so powerful!
One specific story is last Friday Mandi and I were out with one of the guys that is working
with us this month, Ainea. We were in one house talking to a man who had just moved to Bungoma. While we were talking to him there were 5 kids scattered on the floor, none of them belonging to him, just listening also. After we finished up there we followed these neighbors kids over to where they lived. We were then openly invited into one of the child’s houses by their father. We sat down and got to know them and tried to figure out if the knew the Lord. The Mothers name was Stella, the Father was Moses, and the two boys were Kevin and Isaac. Moses found work where he could but didn’t have a steady job. From the start of the conversation they just had this desire to know more about God and to really commit to him. They just did not want to know the Jesus loves you, feel good stuff, but who He is and what He has done kind of stuff. So I sat there and went through it all, birth, life, and death. At the end of it the father and his wife kneeled on the floor in front of their two little boys and gave their lives to Christ. I have to admit I opened my eyes while I was praying, to see them praying this prayer of confession together was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. It’s a picture that I’ll never forget.
From there the Father led us around town telling us who needed Jesus and what were good places to evangelize and his sons just were so enthralled with the white people that had come along too it was precious and just really opened up my heart to the many ways God can work in our lives.
After a story like this in Kenya you say “PRAISE THE LORD and then everyone replies AMEN!!
So AMEN!
The picture is Moses and his sons! 🙂
