Living in Da Nang, Vietnam for the past month has been so amazing and such a life changing experience for me. It was so unique compared to past countries I’ve been to the past few months. Every country has been unique and each have had its grand blessings π El Salvador was particularly special in its own way, and Vietnam is definitely a place I will remember and would like to revisit π
Da Nang is the first place so far where I feel like I’d really gotten immersed into the culture and spent so much time with the group of students we were working with. It is a place where I truly felt accepted and loved and appreciated by the people I was serving. It was also a place where I felt I could really just enjoy life and spend it with those people. I accepted them and they accepted me π Many times we went out and ate so many foods together – many, if not all, were new to me. We visited places together, went to stores and markets together, went to the beach and played volleyball, watched soccer together. It’s the first time on this journey where I really and genuinely felt like I was part of a community, which is sadly something most of my life had not consisted of – so it almost felt new to me… and it was awesome π Similar to my church back home.
During the English club times we would talk about interesting and sometimes challenging topics. Sometimes it was specifically about the English language and sometimes it was about cultural differences. We got to hear each other’s hearts on different things. Along the way some had asked me questions about my life in which I was able to share about my own personal relationship with God and why I do life the way that I do, and who I am versus who I used to be. I also got to encourage some people along the way and spend some one on one time with them.
Da Nang, Vietnam was so much fun and I felt comfortable/safe there, almost like another home. I know that we both impacted each other. I don’t what else to say, or rather how to say it. So I’m just going to say goodbye, and hope that I can return some day π Thank you Vietnam and all of you who made this part of my journey so memorable.
P.S…. I am officially fully funded!! π (as far as the travel, lodging, food, and insurance expenses go)
