“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
The other day after lunch I had started feeling anxious and a lack of the peace that I had been experiencing the last week or so beforehand, so I decided to go outside which then I decided to lift some weights – thinking it would be a good thing and help me feel better. Instead I got a big pain in my chest… that wouldn’t go away.
I walked to the nurses office to find she wasn’t there but I was told she was in her house near by so I went. She came out and asked what was wrong, even though she was sick and not feeling well either. Fast forward about 40 minutes she ended up walking me to the doctor/hospital. Isaac went with us. My blood pressure and heart beat was ok according to the doctor. So I just got a shot and that was it. The nurse and I laughed because we were both not well as walked to the doctor.
As we got back to the compound where we are all staying, she asked if I would share the word of God with her. I was taken by surprise, but I agreed and as the three of us sat on the grass I asked what she would like me to speak into. She just wanted me to share God’s word, so I decided to pray in hopes that He would lead me in what to say. I started talking about creation which eventually led to talking about working vs. resting and sharing what the Bible says about that as well. It was what she needed to hear. She told me that in the morning God told her to stay home, but instead she decided to go to church. She became ill and had to go home and rest, which is when I showed up a little later with my chest pain. In a way, neither of us chose to rest in Him and decided to do something else instead which led to suffering.
Everyone always wants to do their own thing… do what they want… thinking they know what’s best for them. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. It’s always best to follow His ways and will. When we choose to do things our own way – when we lean on our own strength and understanding we bring pain, disappointment, and suffering on upon ourselves.
She told me afterwards that God had told her beforehand, before any of this happened, that she would need me to share His word with her. Wow… 🙂 It wasn’t His will that we stray from Him, but He knew it was going happen and He used it for good… He used my chest pain to go to her and share His word which she could gain a lesson from.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
