This is Gabriel ๐ He is a servant of the church we stayed at and served for our 3rd month in El Salvador. He is such a cool and happy guy – He always said hi and asked (in the little English he knew) “how are you?” or “what happened?” (We think it meant what’s happening, haha). He would always go with us when we needed to go out to get something. If there was one person whose forehead was always sweaty, it was this guy. Hahaha. We appreciated his willingness to not only go out with us, but also his desire to learn English. I was able to teach him that water hydrates us and that lotion moisturizes. The Spanish word for ‘hydrate’ and ‘moisturize‘ is the same (according to google translate) Gabriel also gave me a black tie to wear to the church services, which was also a blessing. Gabriel showed his thanks and appreciation when I gave the handkerchief to him ๐
I want to note that thing I learned this time is to wait on the Lord for all things, though he is sovereign in our decisions. This time I was quick to give the handkerchief away because our last day in El Salvador was the next day and I decided that Gabriel should be the one to receive it. Before getting to the airport the next day, we stopped at a restaurant where the Lord pointed out to me one of the workers there whom I could have given a handkerchief to, and I actually wanted to… but I had already given it away. I wondered what could have come from giving the handkerchief to that worker, but I know that God is sovereign and always good. I think next time I need to be just a little more patient, even if it seems like time has just about run out ๐
