Last weekend someone shortly talked about getting to know the little kids who sell snacks and candy here and love on them whether you are able to buy anything or not. I got to practice that soon after as I was at a cafe with two of the girls from my squad and a little boy walked up to us selling snacks and candy.
One to a few days earlier I had asked God who I was going to give a handkerchief to in Honduras. When the little boy talked to us in Spanish I told him that I didn’t have any money on me, which was true. I had to use a card to get a drink at the cafe because the atm near by wasn’t working. During that conversation I noticed he had a little snot in his right nostril that he kept sniffling. After he walked away I remembered I had a brand new handkerchief in my pocket. So as he was heading out I called “Hijo! Hijo!”. When he looked I called him over and asked him,”Como te llamas?” His name is Alejandro π I showed him the handkerchief and said,”Por tu nariz” and handed it to him, then motioned with my hand to clean his nose. After a few blows and wipes he was done π I motioned that he can keep it and I patted him on the back and said,”Dios te bendiga”. After he walked out I looked behind me and he was facing me with a smile and waved π We said our “Adios” and he walked away. To be honest, I thought I was going to end up giving the handkerchief to another sweaty foreheaded person, but I was blessed with a little boy with snot in his nose π haha! God… π
