As I come to an end to my first debrief of the World Race Gap Year with the rest of my squad I am really starting to think I’ve gotten this whole travel thing. But then I realized that I’ve only been gone about a month and still have a lot more to go. It is honestly shocking how much of a big world we live in. Just the beauty that is in every place that God has created never fails to amaze me.
Some teammates and I are starting to become more well known around the community. I am known as “fish” for pretty obvious reasons. One of my teammates is known as “mbuti” which is siswati for goat. We also have tried to get another teammate to have the kids call him “fit-man” but it didn’t really catch on. We are all picking up on the language just a little bit. But it’s nothing all that impressive and we all still get laughed at a lot.
My team of guys have gotten to go to do prison ministry on Tuesdays. It has really shown me how good God is. Just because even though those men are in a physical prison they are spiritually free and freed from their sins through Christ. And just to see the smiles on their faces when we come in is amazing. They really do love the Lord.
And on Monday nights we get to go to a guy named Leo’s house. He has so much wisdom and is able to pour so much into us. His knowledge about the bible is incredible and every question we ask him a question if spurs a 30 minute conversation.
It really almost feels like home in Swaziland. We have been in South Africa for a week for debrief and I already miss it so much. I already know Swaziland will have such a big place in my heart, not only through the ministry that we have done, but through the connections that I was able to make.
So the other day I stumbled across this verse in my devotional time and I just felt like sharing it with you. It just really stood out to me. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
??2 Corinthians? ?4:16-18? ?NIV??. It really just helps me going through doubt with my faith.
