UNSUNG HEROES

During Month Four in Malaysia my team and I participated in a project called Unsung Heroes. Unsung Heroes aims to seek and find unnoticed or ‘unsung’ local ministries and partner along side of them to bring the Kingdom and help impact their community. With the vast number of missionaries continuing to become World Racers, The World Race continues to expand and serve more ministries in more countries around the world.

By participating in Unsung Heroes, we had the privilege in spending many hours in prayer Asking The Lord for direction about what ministries He wanted us to be in contact with. This month was filled with faith and trust in what God was doing in our team and what He will continue to do for years to come through the ministries He allowed us to meet and connect with. This month allowed my team to become closer, become more real with one another, and helped to deepen our unity.

A great deal of time was invested in making phone calls, sending emails, having meetings with pastors, and making connections with Christian individuals throughout the Muslim country of Malaysia. We learned that the law prohibits Malay people from being anything other than Muslim. However, the law does not prohibit foreigners to be Christians. The law does frown upon public display of believes or evangelism. So many of our beneficial connections were made by word of mouth.

In addition to our search for Unsung Heroes, we spent time at the International House of Prayer called PenHOP. We attended several prayer and worship sessions. This undivided time allowed us to be refreshed and refueled in the presence of God.

Also, we had the privilege of working three days a week with a ministry called Kawan, which serves food to hungry individuals while sharing with them the gospel. We worked with Kawan by cooking, serving, and helping lead song services. I was overjoyed to be volunteering with this ministries which daily serves hundreds of people in the name of Jesus. As most of you know, I have very little cooking skills to say the least, but after spending many hours under the direction of the chief, Mr. Ben, I nearly quadrupled my cooking abilities!

Oh, did I mention that after we cooked we got to eat? Delicious sweet and sour chicken we cooked at Kawan! Its no wonder so many people came to eat because the food was SO good!
