I am overflowing.
This past week in Zimbabwe has been packed full of ministry. We have been hosting events like scavenger hunts, going to hospitals, going to orphanages, and so much more. I have been so extremely worn out. I have felt so tired and exhausted after every day that I usually end up going to bed around 9.
This weekend though, was a whole other story. We went to a graduation on Saturday, but after we went to Auntie Sue’s house. She fed us. SHE FED US!! We have been cooking for ourselves this whole month, so that was super sweet. We had traditional African food that we haven’t had yet, and it was so tasty. We slept in beds. It was so nice to have a real home to sleep in for the night.
Then Sunday morning came. We went to a church, and I was so shocked to see how westernized the church was. The pastor was from South Africa, and the worship band played songs that we play in the States. It was so nice to have that little piece of home. He prayed over us and said we pour out so much so it would be nice to get poured into. I haven’t been to a church service that I wasn’t leading in quite some time. It was so refreshing and I cannot stress that enough. I have loved ministry, but it gets extremely exhausting when you aren’t being poured into the same amount you’re giving out.
On Sunday night, we went to a campsite and had a huge party for Youth for Christ Zimbabwe. We ate so much, it was literally like Thanksgiving. There was chicken, sausage, pork, greens, coleslaw, and so much more. It was such a fun time to just hang out and relax with our friends. This whole weekend has been so filling, I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
We venture to Zambia on Wednesday, and I am a little sad about it. This country is the first country where we had so many amazing opportunities to make and hang out with friends closer to our own age, so leaving them will be bitter sweet. Zimbabwe has taught me that family doesn’t stop with blood, and that is really something important to remember as we travel to all of our other countries.
Prayer request: please pray for safe travels into Zambia & for our month there to be just as fruitful as our past 3 have been!
