  1. He is consistent- the other night we were worshiping outside in the dark. The sky was still pretty lit up because of the city lights. The clouds were moving past so quickly, changing shapes and dispersing. And I just thought “your love is the opposite of a cloud. It doesn’t come and go, it doesn’t dissolve like vapor, it’s not here one day and completely gone the other. Your love doesn’t decide when it wants to rain down on me and when it wants to be dry. No, your love is consistent in all ways”. I’m thankful for this.

 

 

  1. He is in control, and I don’t have to be-  Sometimes I fight so hard to have the reigns on my life, to make every single decision so precisely. And often times, I hate it. That’s so much pressure and stress. But then I remember that it is a blessing that God is all knowing and will guide me as long as I abide in him. I don’t have to do anything else except abide. So thankful for this. 

 

  1. He gives me free will- I’ve been struggling to come up with “what’s next” after the race. So many times I have had an idea, and I’ve taken it to the Lord “is this something that you want  me to do”? And time and time again he reminds me “You have free will. All I want is for you to abide in me and pursue me”. He doesn’t care what I choose to major in or study, as long as I am in constant pursuit of his kingdom. He takes my dreams and brings fruit out of them. 

 

  1. He loves every side of me, even the ones I hate- When I have feelings of hate and frustration and when I’m stuck in slump, when I get so in my head with everything that is difficult about the Race, even when I want to go home. He says “Hey I think you need to talk to me about something”. And I don’t want to. Why would I want to bring this ugliness to him? But still he dares me to trust his love. He doesn’t run away when I open my heart to him. He loves me through it and shows me ways that he is present even when I am hating everything. I’m thankful for this.

 

  1. He knows best- He doesn’t let me have everything that I want. I chase after things, but he knows me better than I know myself, and in that way he knows that I’m not ready. He holds me back for my own good, and when I get upset, he says “If only you knew what would happen if I gave you this”. And still, I never understand, but he does! I’m thankful for this because I’d be a wreck without him. 

 

  1. He’s funny- Sometimes at ministry, which by the way, is a completely unstructured Ecuadorian high school, when my team is spinning around in a million different directions trying to get a grip on what the heck is going on… Seriously, sometimes I literally just think “I cannot believe that this is my life right now”…. and not in a good way! But I look up and think to God “why?? Is this a joke?? Are you kidding me”?? And I would like to think that he is up there just laughing as he looks down on us, knowing that we don’t need to understand “the why”.
