So I am currently in a new country, Thailand and I have a new team starting this month!!! But the story I want to tell you is about our last week in Cambodia.
So we have these things called Debriefs every couple of months, where our whole squad of 50 people comes together to debrief our months on the field, worship and interact with our world race leadership.
This past debrief one of our leaders, Jeremy, brought a vision to us that the Lord had given him for our squad. It was of our whole squad worshiping and singing in the middle of Pub street. Pub street is a place where a lot of brothels exist, women are sold and terrible things occur. There are also a lot of tourists that walk those streets, especially at night.
So, the squad agreed to have a worship night in the middle of the street in a foreign country. We split into teams of worship, evangelism and intercession. We got to the center of pub street and the worship team started to play a song, we all started to sing and jam to Ed Sheeran’s song Photograph. From the moment we started singing our group immediately attracted the attention of people passing by. We were having soooo much fun and people started to crowd around us, taking pictures and curiously looking at us.
As we started to sing worship songs, more and more people crowded around us. They took pictures, chatted with us and watched as we worshiped Jesus in the middle of a street full of darkness. My squad mates and I talked to foreigners traveling Cambodia, laughed with people we didn’t know and brought the joy of the Lord to those around us. It was one of the best nights of my life, it was so much fun singing, dancing, laughing and talking with people. The more I think about it the more I love people. They were not only attracted to the singing, but also the joy of the Lord that was so present. Some people danced with us, some people were prayed over and others got that small glimpse of what love really is.
I could go on and on about this beautiful night, because it was truly amazing. All I have to say to you is that the Joy of the Lord is so real, he is working and its better than I could have imagined.
Love to you all!!
“Though you do not see him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory.” -1 Peter 1:8
