So I am officially going into Month 11 of the Race. Yes you heard that right… MONTH 11. My squad and I leave on a bus for Uganda tomorrow!!! I can’t even believe that I officially will be in the last month of the Race tomorrow.

Now all of that craziness aside… I want to share what I’ve been learning. Well I can’t even really sum it up, because I’m learning a lot.

So one thing that God has been calling me into more is prayer. Prayer is a very powerful thing, it can mean just about anything. From a short prayer of blessing the food to a big prayer that asks for miracles.

Last month in Ethiopia I was challenged big time. I needed to rely on God for some pretty scary stuff that my team and I were involved in. But God took care of us and came through for sure. On our second to last day in Ethiopia a few of my teammates and I made a connection with the Horn of Africa. We ended up going with a few missionaries to a remote village.

Once there we were surrounded by people, touching us and talking to us. They were so amazed that we were there. Our goal was to hand out medicine to people in need. My friend, Javie and I played and danced with the children. Then after we came inside. We were just siting around so Jaivie said “Let’s go pray and encourage them.”

So we did! We prayed for sooo many people, talking, praying and encouraging. A lot of them were sick and had skin diseases, a lot were hungry. So we prayed and prayed and prayed. Around the 45th person I told Jaivie I needed a break. So I took a break because I was overcome with sadness for these people. After a little time I came back and continued. The 2nd to last woman we prayed for had neck pain and could not move her neck. So we prayed for healing and more blessings.

After the prayer she jumped up and started moving her neck. She said “I’m healed, there is no pain.” Then the next person we prayed for accepted Jesus into her life.

The last two people that we prayed for were healed and saved. It was a beautiful testimony, and God was teaching me something.

PERSEVERANCE.

This one word that can mean so much. Perseverance. “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

Prayer is about perseverance, having faith to continue to pray. Prayer is a daily conversation with God. Prayer is powerful. Prayer to God will bring miracles.

I know that I need to continue to pray daily and trust that God will answer them, because he does everyday! Even the small prayers he answers.

I am still learning and challenging myself to pray more, because it’s hard a lot of the time. Sometimes I get lazy or discouraged, but God is always there. The discipline is worth the answered prayers.

Let’s persevere together and run this Race!
