I've been pondering for a while whether I should get dreadlocks for the World Race. Here are my thoughts.

I've wanted them pretty much my whole life for a few reasons:
1. You don't have to shower as often when you have dreads
2. I don't really like hair, so with dreads I won't have to worry about it as much
3. People call my a hippie, and dreads are hippie-esque
4. They're downright cool.

I've never gotten them for a few reasons too:
1. I have always been a little busienss-minded. Ever since I was little, I wanted them but haven't gotten them because I've always been thinking about my future. What job can I get if I have dreads, etc.
2. I work at The Breakers, and I could and would lose my job if I wore dreads to work
3. I don't want to be sterotyped with the stereotypes that are typically linked to dreadlocks
4. I'm uneducated about them and scared that I'll mess up

With these in mind, I did a little research. I figured, hey, I'll be away from "business-minded" people for a year. If I've ever wanted them, this is the best time to get them. The downside is that, after doing some research, they will look pretty much like crap for the first 90 days. I don't want to spend my time in India, Nepal, and Cambodia looking like a mess.

If I could put up with the mess for 90 days, I would wear them until one of the countries in Africa, where I would shave my head (something else I've always wanted to do), and by the time I get back to my position at The Breakers, my hair should be about 5 inches long. Perfect.

Herein lies my problem.

What do I do? I have no idea. Will you help me?

I want you to Nod or Shake Your Head to the Dread!

(I got this idea from a fellow world racer, Garrett, who had friends and family vote on how he was going to shave his beard.)

So, this is what's going to happen. I need you to nod (yes) or shake (no) your head to the dread.

This voting is also a fundraiser!! Yeah!

Each dollar counts as a vote, but you can vote as many times as you want, and with whatever size donation you choose.

This fundraiser will start today and run through the end of May.

All you have to do to vote is click on the "Support Me!" link on the left side of the page, then fill out the form to donate/vote as much as you choose to.

Once you have donated/voted, email or message me, and let me know which option you are voting for and the amount you donated, so that I can tally up the votes.

If you have any further questions about how voting works or about The World Race, feel free to include those in you emails!
