Ministry today was awesome. We left the house not quite sure of what our day would look like and quickly realized that we should have asked more questions. Instead of putting on sunscreen, I put on bug spray thinking that we’re in the jungle and it’s more important. Wrong. The sun was scorching hot on our shadeless walk. It was truly a beautiful walk nonetheless.

We passed through rice fields, by people with cows pulling them through the crops, and by children jumping off dam walls and bridges into muddy water. There were more shades of green on our walk than I ever knew possible. One field next to the other was separated by a stream of water. Each plot of land was overflowing with stagnant water.

Lucky for s, the humidity wasn’t as bad and the wind was a blessed constant.

After walking an hour and a half in the scorching heat, we were ready to sit in the shade of a big tree in the first village. Once a crowd came together, we sang a few songs. They then asked us why we were there. Brody got up, introduced us, and preached the good news. I then handed out tracts, and we soon left for the next village.

We felt refreshed after relaxing a little in the shade. We then walked for another half hour to 45 minutes. Garrett asked a man in the field a question in Nepalese, then handed him a tract. Such a small action, but it has such a kingdom impact. Soon after, a group of women asked us what we were doing out there. So, I preached the gospel and handed out tracts. We then turned around a bend and found ourselves in a village. It was a very small village with only one shop on the side of the road, but it was a village nonetheless. We bought water and rested in the shade. Garrett then preached the Gospel.

Ministry here is so much different than it was in India. As strange as it sounds, I finally feel like a missionary. Beyond the fact that I stink and have constant traveler’s diarrhea, we are doing real work. We are walking to get to God’s beloved. In India, we took tuk tuks everywhere. Here, we don’t have that option, and I’m thankful for it. I feel like we are more a part of the culture by living more like they do.

After passing out tracts for the third time today, we decided to head back home. We were thoroughly exhausted after 5 hours of walking and living like Jesus.
