Half way through month 7 and the Lord has me overwhelmed. For the past 7 months I have stayed in countless hostels, people’s homes, my tent, and Airbnbs. Some of them nice some of them not so much. Some of them I can’t wait to return to and others I can’t wait to forget.
Seven months is a long time. There have been moments of growth, frustration, blessing, and rest. There have been a few times where I was ready to rent a hotel room for the day just to have a nice bed and hot water for my shower. Here I am sitting in a hotel room in Athens, Greece.
How did this happen?
Well we arrived in Greece on the 4th and took a taxi to our Airbnb. Upon arrive we learned it was an old warehouse office. They had put new flooring in and a small kitchen. The site said there would be air conditioning and WiFi. That was a lie. There were no dishes/pots and pans, no air conditioning, and there was only cold water. Oh well, we were making due with what we were given and spent most of our days out finding some ac since it’s been in the 100s.
We decided to have a worship night and just worship not worried about anthing. There was no timer involved we just praised Him.
**Fun little fact more than half the songs talked about praising Him through the storm and/ or singing out your Hallelujah.**
America closed us in prayer and asked for divine air conditioning to which we all laughed a little. 20 minutes later the power went out. We contacted our host and he sent a guy to fix it. Long story short, the host said he has to cancel the reservation and he will give us back our money but we need to find a different place. Travis calls Airbnb and explains what happens. They went above and beyond. They moved us into a hotel in the center of Athens, they are covering the extra cost (because this does not fit in our $7/night per person budget for lodging), and they paid for our taxi to the hotel.
THE LORD KNOWS
Seven is the number where things become comfortable. According to scientists, when creating a new habit, day 7 is when most people give up. This is because you become comfortable, the excitement has worn off, and you realize that you can do it. Then you stop striving for the new habit. The next thing you know the new habit, you were trying to create, is no longer a thing. The same thing is true on the race. Month 7 is when people really experience a lull. We’ve been traveling so much that the excitement of what’s to come isn’t as much as it was before. Living out of a backpack becomes annoying. Sleeping in weird places has become so normal you just long for your bed back home. This is when we push a little harder and dive in deeper into what God is calling.
This is where we raise our Hallelujah.
This is where we praise Him in the storm.
Just when we feel like giving up God comes in to remind you of His love!
Just wait on Him!
