Meet my friend.

Joemar.

I’m praying for the right words to describe Joemar to you, he has defiantely been one of my favorite people here in the Philippines.

Joemar is a 17 year old young man who lives in the Dump Site community we’ve been hanging out in.  He is in his 4th year of highschool and plays a huge role in the youth group.  Joemar has a servant’s heart if I’ve ever seen one.  Everyday that the World Race teams have been outside working in the community, he has been working right along side of us… whether it’s shoveling poop, wading in frog infested water or digging trenches in the scortching heat, I can count on Joemar’s smile and sense of humor to be there.

It’s pretty impressive to get to your fourth year of high school in this community, so I was asking him what he intended on doing after this year.  He just kind of shrugged his shoulders.  I asked him about college and that just seemed a distant dream.  But I don’t think it needs to be…

After further questioning, I have found out that if Joemar could go to college he would want to study Computer Technology and the Arts (a guy after my own heart). I had asked him if we would be into going to school abroad and at first he said he didn’t care, but later said he would rather stay in the Philippines because the Pastor of his church is discipling him to become the next pastor.

Anyway, this is where you all come in.  I know that there are scholarships out there, especially for kids in Joemar’s kind of circumstances.  I asked him how his grades were and he said he gets 82%’s…so he’s a pretty good student.   I guess I’m looking for ideas.  What to do next?

So…let me know.  If anything pops into your heart or mind, let me know… I know the Lord has more for him than what is presently before him.  Let me know what you think.

oh and yes…here’s some pics of my all time favorite guy, Wincey:
