So, this month we’re working in an orphanage called Asha [Hope] Mission. It’s a small children’s home in New Delhi ran by a young married couple, Sarma and Sosi.

Sarma and Sosi have given their lives to take care of 32 of the most adorable children I have ever seen. Everyday I am more and more impressed.

The children have come to Asha for a variety of reasons and some of them still have parents and families, but due to financial situations, their parents have forfeited their rights and have given their children to Asha. Others have come from leper colonies, while others were given to Asha straight from the hospital.

These kids are incredible.

They are so well behaved and exhibit more self-control than I do. They wake up every morning and go straight from breakfast to a time of prayer. From prayer they take turns bathing and studying and playing until lunch time. After lunch they have another prayer session and then rest. They all take naps without any sort of protesting (not that I blame them, I love naps) and then around 4pm we teach them VBS followed by another prayer session and dinner.

(this was during prayer time after VBS.  the little one was brought to Asha at 2 days old, she’s three now–and ultra feisty.  Her name is Asha Baby.)

These kids are incredible. They have more of the Bible memorized than I do, we have given them a memory verse everyday this week and they practice them every night.

The majority of the kids at Asha are boys with the majority of them being from ages 7-10. I miss my brother, Kobe, more this month than I have the entire race.

There are two little boys, Salim and Nihal that I am particularly fond of…

and this is because they remind me sooo much of my little brother. So Kobes, I love you. I miss you and someday I want to bring you here.

Anyway, I love it here.
