BIRTHDAY!
yep. sure is. 10.10.10. i have been waiting for this birthday since i turned ten. not kidding. and this year, i am spending my last day in the Philippines…packing and relaxing and getting ready for my next month in Malaysia.
the first month of the World Race is over. today is 10.10.10 and ahead of me i have 10 more months, spent in 10 more countries. what a year.
this first month was definately interesting. i kind of loved the dump. i mean, it was challenging. and stinky. and i’ve never done such hard work in my life. (i hate to admit it…but i tend to smile my way out of doing that kind of work.) so…it was great. and honestly, if i end up having a year full of dump sites, i will rejoice. the Lord is good.
the whole pink eye situation was probably the most challenging of the month. i had to stay back in the hostel the entire last week of ministry due to my disgustingness. therefore i didn’t get to say goodbye. if you know me…or even if you don’t, you may be able to understand the heartache that comes along with that.
but, the Lord is good. He has been blessing me with some intense one-on-one time. and with a new friend, Jenny, (who also had to stay back all week) that i wouldn’t be as close with if we weren’t forced to stay behind.
all that said, today is my birthday. today begins the 24th year of my life and well…i’m ready to step into whatever that means.
during my week of being diseasedness, i read a book called, “the rewards of fasting” by Mike Bickel. and my world has been rocked.
my team played a prophetic game the other night and Brian got two words for me: half-hearted and ready. now, at first glance…i wasn’t too thrilled. half-hearted!?! that’s not me.
but upon bringing it to the Lord, He showed me this past year. the Lord has been constantly bringing up the importance of living a fasted lifestyle…and i was always half-hearted in my obedience. i wanted to say ‘yes’, in fact i would say ‘yes’ to Him, but my follow through wasn’t there. well, guess what. now I’m ready.
there you go Brian. you’re a prophet.
so this year, today in fact, begins my journey into a fasted lifestyle. what that entails, i don’t know. but, i’m sure that you will be kept up-to-date.
also, i encourage you to check out that book. it really rocked my world!
