Fundraising can be, and most definitely is scary! On two of my previous international missions (to Mexico,) fundraising was a team effort. The 20-some teenagers of my church worked together to fundraise. We hosted multiple events and all of the donations split between all of our costs. My first year, we only had to individually pay roughly $200 thanks to the support of our amazing church! My second year, we only had to pay about $100!!! So needless to say, that shook my expectations when I realized that I had to fundraise nearly $16,000. Fundraising is absolutely daunting.
At first, I was off to a rough start for the first couple weeks that I set off. I talked about my mission to everyone, posted about it everywhere, and I only had roughly $200, which is a huge blessing because everything counts. However, it was discouraging to see the “$200 out of $15,800” for weeks. I felt like giving up on fundraising. But then, my God provided and blessed me with an abundance of donations all at the same time! This was before I even launched any specific fundraisers too.
Then, one of my former neighbors (who happens to be an amazing baker) reached out to me and brought up the idea of doing a personalized collection of cookies to help fundraise for my mission! This was so exciting. We teamed up and designed a set of cookies, and 60% of the sales went towards my funds, and the last 40% goes towards her small business! How generous is that?? This fundraiser is still going on, but I guess what the point of this blog is about is that He will provide!! Like people say, trust the process.
