Welcome everyone!!! I am SINGING and DANCING with excitement to tell you I will not be packing up my room and moving away to college like everyone else this upcoming September. Armed only with a single backpack, I will be launching into a journey of a life time with a program called World Race Gap Year. I am completely blessed to say the Lord called me to travel to Swaziland, Thailand and Nicaragua for 9 WHOLE MONTHS to do mission work!!! You probably have a million questions so I am here today to answer as many as I can.

What Is World Race Gap Year?

World Race is a non-profit organization ran by Adventures in Admissions. World Race Gap Year takes college-aged students on an adventure to 3 continents in 9 months to spread the word of our Lord and Savior and help make a difference in this world. How cool is that? At only 18 years old I will be helping people, loving Jesus and seeing the world all at once!! In a team of 50 racers, we will be leaving in early September of 2019 and returning late May of 2020. During this time, my backpack will become my closet, my tent will become my home and my teammates will become my family. Words cannot begin to describe how excited I am to begin this journey.

How did this happen?

Let me start out by telling you how I came across World Race Gap year. School is not for me. My parents and I have known that for a while. I felt trapped into it because if not school, then what? My mom and I sat down and tried to figure out a plan, something I could do rather then jump right into college. Nothing felt right. I started applying to schools and dreaded every second of it. One day, one of my dearest friends was talking about a program called World Race Gap Year that she had planned on applying to. It sounded absolutely incredible and I told her how I wish I could do something like that. She took one look at me and said “Sam, you can“. I prayed, prayed some more and then prayed even more. Is this something i’m mean’t to do or is this just something I want to do? Long story short, the Lord answered my prayers and I finally felt like all the pieces came together. My application was submitted the day it was released and now I am a 2019 World Racer!!

How can you be involved?

The catch for embarking on such a crazy journey is I CANNOT do this alone. I need as much support and prayers that you can possibly throw my way. This also includes fundraising. The expense for this journey is $16,600. Yes, I know what you are thinking, that’s a lot of money. God has proved to me time and time again that he has my back. I have complete faith that this is what I am mean’t to be doing and that the Lord won’t fail me. That being said, I still have a lot of work to get done and I couldn’t be more excited to start all of it. I understand that everyone has there own money situations and I would never ask for more than you can give, but every single dollar will help. There are 3 ways i can accept donations:

1. My Blog! Right here is the most simple way to donate, all you have to do is click the button, fill out few things and you are set! You can donate one time, monthly or annually!!

2. Checks and money orders must be made out to Adventures in Missions with my name in the memo line. Funny story: there is another Samantha Barnhart involved in World Race, so you MUST write Sam Barnhart on the memo line rather than Samantha Barnhart, so the donations don’t go to her account. You can send them to Adventure in Missions PO box 74570 Atlanta, GA 30374-2570.

3. I will be starting several fundraisers throughout this next year that you will for sure hear more about in the future!!!

I am SO excited to experience this journey will all of you!!!!!!!
