Welcome to Viile Tecii!!
Each morning, I hike up the hill/mountain behind our house to go up and pray, have my quiet time, and worship God. Check out the beautiful view! How can you not feel close to God when in the midst of his amazing creation?!?
In and around our village, there are many kinds of animals roaming around. You can find anything from dogs, rabbits, chickens & roosters, cats, horses, even sheep! At times, they can be a road hazard. 🙂
While staying in our little gypsy village, the closest internet was a 1 hour walk. However, the journey is much shorter when you hitchhike whether to the next village of Teaca (7km) or the big little town of Bistrita (35km). It is also quite convenient. I have taken cars, vans, trucks, and my favorite… horse and wagon! One day, Teri and I were hitching back from Teaca and got ourselves a sweet ride!
We stayed with a local gypsy family. They are very loving and enjoyable to be around. Sandu is a Christian pastor and we lived with him, his wife Rita, and two of their sons Lisi (age 11) and Benny (age 6).
Their son Benny is ADORABLE as well as the local kids, especially in the wheelbarrow.
Enjoying the local coffee shop… and real cofffee!
One day, almost the whole squad got sick. Our hosts were kind enough to prepare a natural local concotion for them to drink and restore their health. The faces that were made while consuming the homemade concoction were priceless!
Overall, it’s been a wonderful month here in Viile Tecii, Romania. Once again our team has been located in a beautiful place where we can admire and enjoy God’s creation. It’s been a unique experience living in a gypsy village. In this part of the world, gypsys are looked down upon and outcasts of society. But, they need Jesus as much as the next guy. It’s been a great experience reaching out to those who are unwanted by society. I enjoyed numerous worship services that we led, building relationships with the locals, getting to know Sandu and his family, hanging out with teams from the newbie J & K squads, and intercessory prayer twice a day.
