In my one of my CGA classes we were asked to write a statement describing our calling…

Ok, yay, that's an easy one…
Jesus! Love him and his people with all my heart, soul, mind and strength!
finished!
Well it turns out that, that is everyone's calling! It also turns out that we all have a specific calling that is in alignment with the Father's heart, yes, but is unique to each individual.

So what does this have to do with Moulin Rouge? Well, I had to get you to click on my blog some how. Ok, just kidding, I really do have a correlation…

I have always loved the movie Moulin Rouge, like really love it, and I think I now know why.

Without giving too much away for those who haven't seen it, the Moulin Rouge is about a young English writer who moves to Paris following the Bohemian Revolution. There he falls in love with the most valuable prostitute at the Moulin Rouge.

My favorite scene in the musical is where Toulouse is trying to convince Christian, the young writer, to create a show for the Moulin Rouge that will portray the Bohemian life:

Christian: I can't write for the Moulin Rouge.
Toulouse-Lautrec: But why not?
Christian: I'm not even sure I am a real Bohemian Revolutionary!
Toulouse-Lautrec: What? Don't you believe in freedom?
Christian: Well, of course I do…
Toulouse-Lautrec: Beauty?
Christian: Yes.
Toulouse-Lautrec: Truth?
Christian:: Yes.
Toulouse-Lautrec: Love?
Christian: Love? Above all things I believe in love! Love is like oxygen. Love is a many-splendored thing, love lifts us up where we belong, all you need is love!

This scene came to my mind after I finished writing my calling statement… which happened to be very similar…
"To love God's people by equipping them with truth in order for them to discover his beauty and walk in freedom as empowered sons and daughters."

Above all things I do believe in love!
And my calling is to equip the children on this earth with the truth that will reveal their beauty, God's beauty, the world's beauty, the beauty in perfect love that casts out fear, the beauty in truth that sets us free so that we may all truly live! Live life and live it to the fullest!
