Don’t be late!
For some people, that phrase might make you shudder. Being on time to things isn’t your first priority.
Not for me!
I have to arrive at places early or else. Ever heard that expression, “If you’re early, you’re on time and if you’re on time, you’re late,” from anyone? I don’t think anyone in the Valley has ever heard it before because everyone is always late! I never understood why other people didn’t feel that same sense of urgency when it came to things and because I wasn’t like everyone else, I would be upset that I would get angry when people were late.
Now I intentionally leave late so I’m not upset in waiting for other people. I know that I actually need to work on not getting mad in spite of waiting, but that’s for another post. What I had been doing was trying to change to fit other people’s idea of how I should act. I wondered why I was different. I would ask God why I couldn’t be okay with other people taking their sweet time and it was just that. It was their time to be had. We all have the same amount of time in a day and it’s up to us what we do with it. We could wait waste it doing pointless things or we could make a difference.
About two weeks ago, God reminded me of a story from Peru (for the sake of not putting too many words in this post, ask me about it in person!) having to do with people’s salvation. There are people on the other side of the world who don’t have the chance to hear the Gospel. Carl F.H. Henry said, “The Gospel is only good news if it get’s there in time,” and it’s true. What does knowing about Jesus and the eternal life we have matter if we don’t share it with other people? The person that dies today and never gets to hear the name of Christ doesn’t hear it because of us. They don’t get the choice to be saved or not because they never knew it was an option.
We need to get off our butts (for lack of a better word) and do something about it. This isn’t just me preaching at you, this is me preaching to myself as well. I have definitely been lazy in my duty as a member of the Body of Christ. I could most definitely be doing more. I let my sense of urgency only be applicable to pointless things like showing up to dinner on time when it should have been directed at more important things – things that will have an eternal impact.
James 4:14 says “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
I’m not guaranteed a tomorrow. Today could be it and I wouldn’t be satisfied with what I’ve done. There is so much more work to be done and I don’t want to be late anymore to what God has called me to do.
Can I challenge you?
I want you to think about what you can do today that will make an eternal impact. What legacy will you leave long after your gone?
If you would like to partner with me to bring the Gospel to other parts of the world, you can do so through prayer or financial support. Prayer is a MUST. It prepares the way for things to be done and allows for impossible things to happen so please keep me and my squad in your prayers! If you would like to help out financially, I’d love for you to pray about what you feel like God wants you to give. Giving is a matter of the heart and I want you to be doing what God wants. If it’s $5 a month or $100 a month, they are both appreciated the same because I’ll know it’s what God wants you to do. You can give online by clicking “Support Me” on the left hand side of the screen or if you want to give a check, I can help you with that too. Just message me and I’ll get you that info! Thank you for being an awesome support system!
