Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata is home to a luscious tropical forest. Trees every shade of green, wildflowers every color under the sun cover the mountainside.
[I was born/raised in “The Prairie State.” To me, this so-called “hill” is really a mountain].

On the top of the hill is the most breathtaking view. Look in one direction and see Chalong Bay. Look in the other direction and see Kata and the Adaman Sea.

Imagine 360 degrees of the most stunning beaches, hills, and water.
I am not afraid to say that Thailand has the most BEAUTIFUL skies in the world. There is just something about the colors and clouds here.

Creation SCREAMS from this viewpoint.
Majesty is written everywhere.
Only the Greatest Artist could have painted a picture as perfect as this…
Enter man, stage left.
One thing I have learned over the past 22 years is that we are really good at ruining God’s creation.
On top of this gorgeous mountain now sits the construction site of “Big Buddha,” the biggest Buddha statue in Phuket, Thailand. 45 meters high and 25 meters across at the base, the statue can be seen from far away.

THIS IS NOT OKAY.
We went on a prayer walk at the Big Buddha site. Hundreds of Buddhists and tourists visit this place every day. Some go to pray. Some go to give offerings. Some go because they are curious.
THIS IS NOT OKAY.
My prayer? “God, open this mountain to swallow the statue.”
My heart hurts for Thailand. In a land so beautiful, so breathtaking, so many people are lost.
THIS IS NOT OKAY.
