Dump

Toxic waste.

Poop.

Garbage.

Sludge.

Any putrid thing you can imagine.

That was on my shovel.

That was what I danced in.

That is what the Filipino people we are serving this month LIVE in.

This week, our task was difficult. We cleaned out a “playground” behind the church/school.

The street in front of the church/school needed to be cleaned. We shoveled dump into hundreds of bags.

Several hours a day. All week. We worked in this.

Our squad leader Tiffany spoke at Wednesday night youth group this week. She gave her testimony & reminded us to REJOICE!

On Thursday, when we were to shovel the dump, that’s just what we did. We rejoiced.

As we shoveled, locals played music for us. We danced. We laughed. We tried not to gag at the overwhelming smell.

To be quite honest, that dance party is probably in my top 3 favorite dance parties in my life.

I hope this video taken by Sarah O. of Team Gozo will give you a little more insight to what we’re doing.
