Month 1. Philippines.

One of the women on team Gozo received a word from God in the form of a letter. At the very end of the letter it read:

“Be yourself, Samantha.
That’s all I need from you. Be yourself.
Be honest. Be true. Keep your eyes on Me – but be yourself.
The rest is in My hands.”

Month 2. Malaysia.

My squad leader, Patrick, received a word from God. He shared it with me, and at the very end he said, “Just be yourself, bud. God’s got the rest.”

Month 8. India.

My squad leader, Andrew, received a word from God. He wrote it out for me, and then after giving me the letter, we talked. In our discussion, Andrew said, “Be yourself.”

Okay. Apparently God wants me to be myself — but what does that even mean? I am apparently not being myself if He has to keep telling people to remind me.

It reminds me of a scene from Aladdin when Aladdin is talking to Jasmine on the balcony & Genie is speaking in his ear “Beeee yourself!” [I’ve added the video to this blog in case you have no idea what I’m talking about…] Nobody benefits when Aladdin is not himself.

So — in a quiet place this afternoon, I prayed,

“Daddy God,

How can I be myself if I don’t know who I am? Please tell me who I am. I want to hear Your words – not mine, not Andrew’s, not anyone else’s words – just Your voice.”

This is what HE said:

Samantha,
You are:

A beautiful woman.
The daughter of THE KING
^ a princess.
Beloved.
A mighty voice.
A cherished daughter.
A good friend.
BEAUTIFUL.
Full of life.
Full of MY wisdom.
JOYFUL.
A mighty weapon against the enemy.
A gentle spirit.
LOVED.
Accepted.
An encourager.
A great supporter.
A prayer warrior.
Fully equipped.
Chosen.
Wanted.
Created to do glorious things in MY name.

MINE.

On the World Race, we practice a culture of high honor. We work on honoring our teammates, our contacts, our leaders, & so on… One thing I have really worked to do this year is honor God. One way I have learned to honor God is to love me – the woman that He created me to be. Sometimes I need to be reminded who I am in order to really honor God.

I think my favorite word He gave me is "Mine." I am HIS. This is so cheeseball, but I've always heard this saying, "If you want to know WHO you are, you have to know WHOSE you are."

Hopefully, now that He has told me who I am, I will start to live these things out. I will be able to "be myself."

I encourage you to ask Him who you are.

Everything He has to say about you is GOOD. After all, He did create you.
