God Bless America, land that I love…

You’re a grand ole flag; you’re a high-flying flag.

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free…

My country ‘tis of thee, sweet land of liberty…

… some of my favorite songs to sing around this time of year. I’m a huge fan of our Independence Day — July 4th. It’s much more than just a family barbeque and fireworks.

Especially after this year, I am beyond thankful to live in a country with so much freedom. In America, I am free to worship God openly. I can pray out loud. I can attend a church service without fear of being “caught” and sent to prison.

I really am proud to be an American. I love my country!

… this week, while living in Timisoara, Romania, we have learned a lot about this country’s history and the revolution against Communism.

The revolution in Romania actually began in Timisoara in December 1989 — and only lasted 7 days. People protested and fought for liberty. They overthrew the dictator, and declared freedom over this land.

We were given the privilege of touring the Revolution Museum in the city. Our tour guide was a man who was involved in the revolution, was shot on the second day, and lived to tell the story. He gave us so much information about each day of the revolution. We watched a short film and went through several rooms filled with artifacts from the revolution.

This city is filled with history. Ahh. I love it.
