Allow me to introduce myself! I’m Sam! 21 years old. Senior at Rowan University. Lover of the World. Coffee Enthusiast. Daughter of the King.
Forgive me for my tardiness in posting for I have been meaning to kick off my WR blog for sometime now, but with a demanding semester winding down followed by finals and then the holidays it was difficult to have an appropriate amount of time to do much of anything!
However, now that the fall semester has come to a close and just this past week we were able to celebrate the birth of the Savior, it brings me joy to sit here introducing myself and sharing with you some of the things going on in my life.
For those who may not know, come July 2015, I will be on my way to India, Nepal, Cambodia, Thailand, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Malaysia, Botswana, Swaziland, & South Africa!
I am so excited to start this journey with the Lord and travel across the globe to do the work that he has called me to! And I am excited far beyond words to have the opportunity of going back to Botswana- a country that still holds much of my heart.
In the summer of 2013 I was beyond blessed with the opportunity of bringing and sharing the gospel with people of all ages in throughout Botswana. During my time spent there, my team and I were able to spend time in Old Neladi, one of the poorest villages, feeding and playing with the children that had been left as orphans due to the AIDS and HIV epidemic that is prominent in their country. We were able to talk to them about the Lords love and love them in ways they had never got the chance to experience.
Also, while there I was privileged with the experience of being on the University’s campus with the future leaders of Botswana and talking to them about knowing Jesus personally. This was such an important time in my life, and the pivotal moment where the Lord set my heart ablaze for his people overseas.
( I am sure as I post more and more on this blog that I will include pictures from that summer for is a time that I will hold forever dear. )
In preparation for this next journey there are many things that I can not reach alone. First and foremost I ask that you would be in prayer alongside of me. I am currently in school and working, but can not reach my financial deadlines alone. Not only do I need your prayer support, I also need your financial support. I need to raise $20,000 – which will cover 11 months of meals, lodging, air, land, and sea travel, administrative costs, set up costs, coaching costs, debriefing costs, and training camp costs.
To be honest, the cost does seem a little scary to me, but I will continue to rest in knowing that God will provide for what He has called me to. And I have no doubt that I am going to need a strong support system. It has been in the Lords timing that I have been learning that raising support isn’t just for the person being sent out, but even more so about connecting the entire body of Christ to be part of the ministry. With that being said, I am excited to witness and be apart of such a community.
