I feel like this is the big moment.  Sinking or swimming.  To be or not to be.  The breaking of the blogging world ice.  That first Real blog post.  So, to the family, friends, and complete random and total strangers who stumbled across this, I welcome you.

So as I've already come to realize, the biggest question I've been asked regarding the World Race is, "What in the world is the World Race?"  It should be a simple question to answer, but I'm finding difficulty in giving just that simple answer.  I could just say that it's an 11 month mission trip through 11 different countries which I'm leaving for on January of 2012.  Or that each month will be spent with different local ministry contacts and our "work" could be anything from teaching english, to serving in orphanages, to combating human trafficking, praying for the healing of nations and people, connecting local people to local churches, prison ministry, leading Bible studies, speaking at churches, reaching out to the homeless, performing physical labor, and anything else which the Lord may call upon us to do.  That in order for me to go, I need to raise a little over $15,000.  I might mention that I'll be placed in a team of around 6 or 7 people who I'll basically be living with and working alongside literally 24/7.  Or that for those 11 months, I'll be living out of a backpack the entire time.  Accomodations might range from sleeping in a tent for the month and showering out of a bucket to something a bit nicer than that, but probably not by much.  That these 11 months are likely to be filled with triumphs and sorrows, brokenness and renewal, feelings of weakness and strength, times of laughter and times of crying, fear and bravery, questioning my beliefs and great spiritual growth.

But honestly, I feel like this is inadequate.  Yes, it gives some of the logistics and facts regarding the World Race.  But does it still really describe it?  Much of this is just the physical attributes.  Many of which can be seen, felt, and experienced.  Some maybe not so much.  The World Race is still more than just that however.  At least to me.

The World Race

The World Race is a Journey (physically and spiritually)…

The World Race is a Calling…

The World Race is a Challenge to step into who God has created me to be…

The World Race is a Glimpse into the reality of the world around us.  One absent of things that do not matter one iota yet still gets so much of our attention, like MTV, Starbucks, or Entertainment Tonight.

The World Race is a Game Changer.  It's a me changer.  A life changer.

The World Race is a giant Leap of Faith.

The World Race is a an opportunity to fulfill the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:18-20 – "Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
