I am currently in Cape St. Francis, South Africa, and able to be back in communication with the outside world after being in Harbin, China (a closed country) in October.  Here’s a look at what my team and I were up to last month:

My teammate, Ashley, on our 38 hour train ride to Harbin from Hong Kong

At church-the service was completely in Chinese and we sang by reading the worship lyrics in pinion.

Our team got the awesome opportunity to go to the world’s largest tiger park on our free day

Some of my teammates, Jamie, Kathryn, and Majil at our free day at the Tiger Park

Fried beef noodles are delicious. We ate them a lot.

My teammates Kathryn and Tim and I at a party we threw to get to know our new friends.

My team and I at the weekly Bible study that we started. Our activity that night was to paint what we wanted our future to look like.

Part of Heida University-where we did most of our ministry

At English corner with new friends at the nearby university. It was an opportunity for Chinese students to practice their English and for us to meet people.

Hanging out and talking about Jesus with my friend, Joy.

Hanging out with some of the students we were discipling at Central Street in downtown Harbin. It has a ton of Russian influence and architecture.

At another party we threw to go deeper with the Chinese students. Here I am with Malena.

Pumpkin carving after our weekly Bible study.

With my friend, Alice. I got the opportunity to share my faith with her.

The apartment for the new church plant that we got to help start. This is after some renovation, but before the décor was added.

During the worship and Bible study at the new church.

Anna and Lily-two girls Ashley and I got the chance to grow them in their faith

My first time at the Great Wall of China in 2006-when I got the opportunity to travel with my dad on business. That trip is what spurred my love of traveling.
