Dear friends and family,

I am writing this letter to share with you the next opportunity that God has opened up for me. There is a reason I am writing you in particular. In some way or another you have impacted my life. You and the rest of whom I am writing have helped shape me into the person I am and given me the vision of who I want to be. You mean a lot to me and thank you for what you’ve done.

I was recently accepted to go on an 11-month mission trip called the World Race. The World Race is part of Adventures in Missions, a non-profit mission organization based out of Georgia. They have sent over 100,000 people into the mission field since 1989. The World Race is one of their trips, specifically for young adults to travel to 11 countries in 11 months. I will be leaving in October 2016 to travel to India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland, and Argentina. While in each of these countries, my team will be partnering with local churches and ministries to serve in areas of need.

I am so thankful and excited for this opportunity! I want to live for something more. I want my words and actions to reflect a higher meaning. On the World Race, I will be living this way. Everything I posses will be contained in a backpack for 11 months. I will be living in raw, authentic community. In each country we will be preaching the gospel, praying for the sick, and spending time with people in the lowest level of their social system. I can not wait to be God’s hands and feet in communities where it is needed most.

I have two goals I am thriving to meet as I prepare for this journey:

First, gathering as many people as I possibly can to reach out and pray for me and my future team. We will need all the prayers, encouragement, and spiritual support as you can provide. There will be times of struggle and this is when we will need you the most. You can communicate, send prayers, and words of encouragement through my blog. (sammann.theworldrace.org) You can subscribe so that every time I update with a new post, you will receive an email notifying you. You can also make online contributions there by clicking the “support me” tab and following the steps it provides. I will keep you updated throughout my journey with stories, prayer requests, and just what is on my mind at the point I’m at.

Second, reaching the the fundraising I need to meet in order to be a part of this incredible, life changing walk I’ve been called to do. I will be faced with many challenges throughout this journey but one that exceeds the others right now is reaching this goal. The cost will include air, land, and sea travel, training, lodging, food, and other necessities while in the field. The total cost of this trip is $16,961. I must reach a $5,000 deadline by July 22nd, a $10,000 deadline by September 16th, and am going to do everything I possibly can to be fully funded by October 2nd so I can focus on the mission at hand instead of being distracted by the money I still need to raise while in the field. The cost of this trip is a bit overwhelming and intimidating. Trust me, it honestly has me worried. But I truly believe if this is God’s plan for me, then it will be done. I believe I was accepted and drawn to this mission trip for a reason and God will have it so. So I ask you to join me on this race. Be a part of this life changing adventure with me.
