Why hello there!

My name is Samantha J. Lacey. But you can call me Sam. I am nineteen years old and I am from the city of Muskegon in scenic West Michigan, which means that I am essentially surrounded by snow or beaches 99% of the time.

I have a big, crazy, and awesomely supportive family who (whom?) I love, and the most amazing friends.

I live with my Aunt and my Uncle and essentially grew up going to church and to Bible Camp every summer since I was *this big* (pretend my hand is hovering a few feet off the ground), and I made my very own decision to follow Christ almost ten years ago, and since then I’ve been falling ever more in love with the Creator of my soul. I accidentally told God that I would follow wherever He chose to lead me (and by accidentally I mean on purpose. I just wasn’t entirely expecting Him to be so radical about it. Silly me.) and God has been opening up doors and hallways and probably even windows ever since. And now here I am, embarking on The World Race, about to be launched off to three different parts of the world for nine months.

Here are some assorted things to know about me:

  • Just because I cannot sing does not mean I will not sing
  • I really dig classic literature. Or just about any literature really. I have a quote for just about anything
  • I believe that vanilla ice cream is best served slathered in pure maple syrup
  • I think that thunderstorms are some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring displays of God’s incredible power
  • Lame puns are probably the one of the fastest ways to my heart. The lame-er the better. I absolutely adore puns of all sorts.

I am excited and nervous and about a million other emotions about this trip. I have no idea what to expect or I can prepare, but I am super excited to take on this new chapter in life with God by my side.
