“I’m going to go out on a limb here, and say that God doesn’t care. He doesn’t care if you do a bible study in the morning or if you talk to people on the bus or what you do. I think he just wants you to do SOMETHING.”
The night Clay, our squad leader, uttered these words I knew he was right. As my team and I sat there on the rooftop of our home in Guatemala under the stars and in view of some volcanoes, I realized that even though we could sit there and talk with good intention all night long, it wouldn’t mean a thing unless we actually DID it.
Good intention are worthless if that’s all they are. They need to come to fruition and become actions if they are to be of use to anybody. Paul tells us in the book of Philippians that is is “God who works in {us} to will and to ACT in order to fulfill His good purpose.” (TNIV, emphasis mine).
We need to act. But we also need to remember that we’re not acting alone. In our actions we need to also have faith that God is at the helm. Hebrews chapter 11 tells us of great things that come of action though faith. It tells us that we need to be sure of what we hope for and be certain of what we do not see. We are called to be people of action and we are called to be people of faith. We are called to be people of action in faith.
So do something. Anything. And have faith that God will redeem it to His glory.
Get on it.
Te amo, Sam
