We’re doing T-shirts! Behind the scenes, I’ve been working with some awesome folks, to put a shirt design together to help represent and remind us of our purpose.
The Design: From responding to our alarm in the morning, to the guy who cut you off on your way home from work, Life is a big collection of responses. We choose how we respond in life, but not whether we get to respond. Not responding is not an option. The first and most important response is done with the heart towards the Savior. God is the great initiator; we can love because He first loved us. That’s where the idea behind the shirt started. Jesus says that the two greatest commandments are to Love God and to Love others. Blended together it looks like this: Respond to God, Respond to others.
With all that in mind, we crammed a whole bunch of words inside one word and threw it on a shirt.
Here it is broken down.
The R is filled with the Heart, the Attitude, behind a response
E is a taste of Who we can respond to
S is sample of responsive Actions
P is how we can respond to Christ
O contains the Characteristics of Christ, why we should respond to Him
N and D are the Call that Christ has placed on our lives Matthew 16:24-26
What I love about the World Race is it’s one big response—to love people, to share hope, to be vulnerable, and courageous, and to make mistakes. You are invited to share in this ministry—to respond to Christ and then respond to others. It’s beautiful because you can respond right where you are, whether that’s in Moose Jaw, Canada, or Magnolia, Ohio. If you decide to order a shirt I hope that you’ll wear it as a supportive reminder of the ministry we are on together and the calling with which we respond.
