It’s been an eventful, illuminating and uncomfortable past few days, so let me cut to the chase and explain why.
I’m switching Squads.
This means I’ll be changing the countries we’ll visit, and the personnel I’ll be serving alongside. If I may, please allow me to explain how this has come about.
A couple days ago, our Squad received an e-mail asking us to prayerfully consider changing routes to help balance out the Squads. Hints of this news had been tossed around our Squad’s Facebook group earlier and the e-mail confirmed our fears. I read the words with a sinking feeling in my gut. Please believe me, that in the past 6 months I’ve grown to love and care for the wonderful people I thought I’d be traveling with: E Squad. The men and women of E squad are some pretty awesome folks, and I haven’t even met them.
But the Lord’s been working on my spirit on this idea of comfort. I believe that He is calling me, challenging me—more and more—to give up an earthly sense of comfort and take a hold of the comfort that comes with trusting Him. It’s a part of what this trip is about.
It’s not comfortable to leave my squad.
It’s not comfortable to leave behind the list countries I’d worked so diligently to memorize and recite back to people.
It’s not comfortable to join a new squad within weeks of training camp.
The truth of the matter is: I’m not going to these countries to be a tourist. I’m not going so I can say that I traveled here, or there or saw this or that. I’m going to serve, I’m going to get uncomfortable, I’m going to love, and I’m going to be transformed.
God calls us out of our comfort, so that we can be changed.
Dear friends, I pray that we would NOT allow ourselves to get comfortable in our own strength, and that we would be bold enough to see that our very lives our not about us, but to bring glory to the one who is Worthy.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”—Isaiah 6:8
So what does this mean?
We are still leaving in July! Instead of going to Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey, China, and Mongolia we’ll be going to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Moldova, Cambodia and Thailand. I’m now a part of G squad. Best of all you are still invited/ welcomed to share in this Adventure— the best is yet to come. Thank you all for your continued love and support. Be blessed!
