We have arrived safely in Kathmandu, Nepal. Thank you for all your prayers for our safety. Here’s the recipe of our travel adventure.
Thursday 5AM: Left Hotel for ATL airport.
1:30 Hour Flight to Chicago. (We got divided into several flights, it got a little crazy)
3 Hour Layover.
+13:30 Flight to New Delhi, India.
14 Hour Layover in New Delhi airport.
1 Hour Flight to Nepal.
20 minute van ride to Ministry Host.
There’s a whole handful of stories tucked into these points: Eating curry (thrice) on Indian planes. Sleeping on the floor of an Indian airport. Trying to come to terms with jetlag (9:45 hours, baby). Our host suggests we stay up until a normal hour to fight the lag so I’m currently writing to stay awake. Please excuse the somewhat jumbled nature of the following. I have no idea how much sleep I’ve had in the past 3 days (chances are ~10 hrs total).
This is an incredibly beautiful place. The city is surrounded by mountainous foothills peaking in and out of the misty clouds. Kathmandu is also nestled into an incredibly broken reality. Sex tracking young girls is a reality largely fueled by deception and poverty. This month we’ll have the opportunity, through our ministry host, to talk with some these girls. We’re also planning on working with street kids, and visiting the slums. There’s also talk of a weeklong trek through the unreached areas of Nepal. Please join me in prayer for God to reveal His heart for the people here, that He would fill us with His love, and that we will serve with our entirety.
Fun Discoveries:
We ate Buff mo:mos and they were fantastic! Buff as in Water Buffalo meat. Mo:mos as in pot stickers. 1 plate was roughly 60 cents USD, and a bottle of coke, Fanta or Sprite was an additional 30 cents. 100% Serious.
We’re planning on attending a church service tomorrow where 70 nationalities are represented.
It’s the start of the Monsoon(rainy) season here.
Time to get some rest, look forward to filling y’all on the adventures to come. Be blessed!
