Modern Christianity in many cases has become nothing more than a silly game of an expected life of nothing more than the mundane.
Wake up go to church, put on a happy face, coast on by for one more week, act happy and fine when your not, repeat. Die.
What kind of a life is this? Where is the adventure, where is the danger, where is Jesus?
We read amazing life stories of our Christian family who lived generations before us. The bible is one big adventure book containing example after example of lives lived and risks taken in order to live for Christ in radical ways. We read examples of people who turn away from our Father and examples of others who dive into His crazy callings. The miracles performed countless times and the power proven and shown through generations of followers is radical and exciting to read and see on paper, but when does it become radical and exciting to live out for us?
Do you not know that we too, just like generations in the past, have the same power and authority of past Christians through our Father? For it says in the bible, “You can do all things through Him who gives you strength” (Philippines 4:13). This verse doesn’t simply say you can do some things through God who gives you strength, it says all things. When it says ‘all things’ I believe and know with my whole heart that it is true.
In todays church I like to call what I wrote about above “THE GREATEST KEPT SECRET OF THE MODERN CHURCH.” We read and discuss how amazing the bible is we draw hope, happiness, and strength from this book in our own lives yet when will we be encouraged by the Body of Christ to live out the same radical lives as our family before us has lived out.
At the beginning of this incredible journey with my heavenly Dad I was struggling so much to fully believe that my words truly had meaning and authority behind them (read all of Luke 4). That I too just like past Christians could heal the sick, cast out demons, bring light to the dark, and perform real life miracles all through and in the name of Jesus, who deserves all Glory and praise. Amen.
I have often had so many doubtful thoughts, and believed so many of the lies of the devil spoken over me in the past, that it made it hard for me in present situations to fully believe that I am mighty and victorious; because, “He who is living in me is Greater than he who is living in the world” (1 John 4:4)!
For do you not know that when you were baptized and fully accepted Christ into your life that you were given the Spirit by our Father who is now living in you? Do you not know that when the Spirit resides in you, that you have the power and strength of the Spirit and that you can do all things in our Dad’s great and glorious name.
I did not know that. I was never told before leaving for this trip that I could cast out demons, never told that I could heal the sick, and even if God is willing raise the dead.
In the begging I was weak in my words I spoke prayers and encouragement over people, but I never spoke in the knowledge of the full power my words hold, and the full power the Lord has given me on earth. To Go and make disciples of all nations. Read all of Mathew chapter 12, you may think that this was meant for only Jesus’ disciples, or you may think this is to radical of a calling for you. Yet this was written for you and me.
In all reality our Dad has shown me countless times on this journey that true Christianity is the pages we presently are filling up. Our very own adventure books that make up one big book, bound together in the Kingdom of heaven, our future Home.
I like to imagine this ginormous book seated right next to Jesus and God, comprised of billions if not trillions of real life stories of you and me, and everyone who has an investment in the Kingdom of God. We are all Paul’s, Peter’s, and Mose’s disciples. Living out a life in the here and now to Glorify Him.
Read all of 1 Corinthians chapter 12, it talks about Spiritual Gifts, and Unity, and Diversity in the Body. Do you not know that we are the Body of Christ, not a building? Do you not know that every time two or more Christians are gathered in His name that God is also there with them? So basically, whenever the Body of Christ meets together, we are in communion with God and are joined in the presence of God. Forming what I and God call “The true Church.”
Together lets change this modern church. Let us live a life worthy of the calling our Father has given. Let us be radical and silly for Jesus expecting Him at any time, “Setting our hearts on what He wants, and thinking His thoughts, you will be considered impractical and a daydreamer. But when He suddenly appears in the work of the heat of the day, you will be the only one who is ready. You should trust no one and even ignore the finest saint on earth if he blocks your sight of Jesus Christ” (Read Galatians 1:10). From the devotional, “My Utmost For His Highest,” Oswald Chambers.
I have no idea what my future looks like anymore. However, I do know that God will always be a part of my future now. With that being said, more than ever I am having to “Live by faith not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). “Faithfulness to Jesus means that I must step out even when and where I can’t see anything” (Mathew 14:29 i.e. Chambers) Are you faithful to the living Jesus, or your ideas about Him?
Let’s together, me and you, stop reading the bible as a simple story book of past truths; and live our own story book adventure that God has pre-written for us (Jeremiah 29:11). He has an unimaginable future in store for us. Stop dreaming by yourself, and join our heavenly Dad in the dreams He has for us. I don’t know about you, but i’m excited to be presently living out my own adventure book, and to continue in the future.Living a life with Christ in more unimaginable ways than we could have ever imagined.
When you die what will your adventure book look like?
